Sullurupeta The Spot for Birds Festival !!


Sullurupeta is being the spot for Birds Festival named 'Flamingo Festival' which was organised to start from Dec 27th. It's a 3 days festival to be hosted in 3 places Nelapattu Bird Sanctury, Bheemulavaripalem and Pulicat lake around sullurupeta. 

During this season, flamingos, pelicans and hundreds of different varieties of migratory birds arrive at the Pulicat brackish water lake surroundings in search of food. Some of these are the Siberian Storks, Open Billed Storks, Night Herons, Egrets, Little Cormorant, Golden Backed Wood Pecker, Spotted and Ring Doves, King Fishers, Painted Storks, White Necked Storks, Spoon Bills and other species of birds that gather in large numbers. The flamingo festival gives a rare opportunity for people to view breathtaking spectacle of the gorgeous birds. 



The time sullurupeta witnessed with Exhibitions of unique products and features of the lake surroundings, Students cultural activities, games, stalls, arkestra with celebrates. Which intends makes a festival environment all over. Food courts and drinking water facilities will be installed for the convenience of the visitors. Celebrations starts in evening all these days.


Places to See Nearby Sullurpeta:

AP Government runs free buses form Sullurupeta to Nelapattu Bird Sanctury and Bheemula Varipalem at regular intervals. 

Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary:


The place where the birds welcomes you to take a visit. This sanctuary plays important role in nesting of various birds especially migratory birds which considered one of the biggest habitats for some hundreds of pelicans. 


There we can see museum with variety of bird species, Zoo, and variety of plant species. In available with Binoculars for worth watching the birds in zooming view. The whole site reflects the shooting spot for newly making film and eagerly watching viewers.


Bheemulavaripalem:


This place attracts free boating services on these days. Boating ride runs for 20 mins in lake. visitors will get the chance to watch the variety of birds.


Chengalamma Temple:

Goddess Chengalamma will be decorated with special Alankarana on these days. Chengalamma Temple is located on the banks of Kalangi river. The temple lies to the southern tip of Sullurpeta which is well connected with major cities like Chennai, Tirupati, Nellore. 400 years old Chengalamma Tree in the temple premises acts as a boon giver to all devotees.


Sriharikota:

Visitors can reach Sriharikota from Sullurpeta either by Cabs or Auto rickshaw. SHAR runs free buses from Sriharikota entrance to First Launchpad, 2nd Launchpad and Mission control center at regular intervals. It is going to be 1 hour 30 mins ride and is free entry for all visitors. Visitors are required to carry ID proofs to access Sriharikota entry. SHAR is 16 km from Sullurpeta and Pulicat Lake falls on the way to SHAR.
