Everyone is eagerly waiting for the US Presidency results. Some with reasons and some without reasons as they know only it is a trending topic over the mouths.
And yes we too have some benefits which depends on this Presidency results. Here are some promises both Trump and Hillary left towards India.
Donald Trump:
- Donald Trump has made many comments about Indian people during his election campaign. He described Modi as “Great man” and states that he is“Great Fan of Hindus”.
- In an interview with the Hindustan Times he said "If it was necessary I would ready to be a mediator If we could get India and Pakistan getting along, I would be honoured to do that. That would be a tremendous achievement"
- As he is great Business minded Trump also has significant economic interests in India, and he has launched his Trump Tower luxury apartments in Mumbai and Pune.
- But the things continues to disturb Indians are Trump’s views on immigration. He targets to make America great again by deporting illegal immigrants.
- If he elected as President he initiates a tough immigration policy and hike the minimum wage paid to H1B visa holders. This could reduce the prospect of job opportunities for foreign professionals but not only for Indians.
- Another statement of concern is Trump’s call for Muslims to be banned from entering the US, India has the second-largest Muslim population in the world.
Hillary Clinton:
- She will be the first woman in US history to serve as president, just as Obama was the first black to occupy the highest office. This should be cause for celebration not only in the US but in democracies across the world, including India.
- It’s believed Hillary played a crucial role in encouraging her husband Bill Clinton to energise the India-US relationship during his presidency.
- She visited India in 1995 as First Lady and has made several visits since. She was directly engaged in building relations with India as Obama’s secretary of state during 2009-13.
- Her strong stand against Pakistan on eliminating terrorism continues to have an impact on the minds of Indian people.
And finally
The world is waiting to see whether American voters will elect their First Female President as Hillary Clinton, or opt for the Controversial Billionaire Donald Trump.
Undoubtedly, both are well supported towards India. Hillary enjoys the advantage of knowing India far better than her Republican rival. But it is also true that Trump’s recent efforts to attract the Indian-American community have paid off.
