
"Water Man of India" Yes he is Rajendra Singh.
He is the Noble Prize winner for introducing modern version of the ancient Indian technique of Rainwater Harvesting which was very cheap, simple and followed worldwide.
Rajendra Singh is from Rajasthan who is well-known water conservationist has brought water back to over 1,000 villages and revived five rivers in Rajasthan, Arvari, Ruparel, Sarsa, Bhagani and Jahajwali.
The Stockholm International Water Institute, which presented the prize said, "His lessons were essential as climate change alters weather patterns round the world".
Rajendra Singh's life work has been in building social capacity to solve local water problems through participatory action, empowerment of women, linking indigenous know-how with modern scientific and technical approaches and upending traditional patterns of development and resource use.
The award was proposed by a leading UK water engineer who has drawn Rajendra Singh's work to help prevent flooding in the UK.
