Mahavir, a passionate wrestler who failed to reach the top level of the game in India, made sure his daughters being the glory which he failed to.Mahavir Singh Phogat was born in Balali village, Bhiwani district of Haryana. At the age of 16, he came to Delhi to get trained under Padma Shri-winning wrestler Chandgi Ram. but he never reached the heights of success.
After that he married to Daya Kaur and has 4 daughters, Geeta, Babita, Ritu and Sangita. He looks after his nieces Vinesh and Priyanka, daughters of his brother who was killed in a dispute. Mahavir himself trained all the 6 Phogat girls as international level wrestlers.
He was not only bringing about a women’s wrestling revolution in what has been a traditionally male-dominated sport. His three Daughters (Geeta, Babita and Vinesh) have represented India at the Olympics.
In 2014, when Aamir Khan interviewed Geeta and Babita on his Satyamev Jayate talk show, the two sisters revealed the story how their father introduced them to wrestling. Then Aamir khan decided to make a film on Mahavir Singh Phogat.
2. Sakshi Tanwar the popular TV serial actress played the role of Aamir Khans wife. She won the role beating 70 other actresses, including Mallika Sherawat.
3. Aamir has gained 30kg to end up at a whopping 98kg to don the role of a veteran Indian wrestler Mohair Singh Phagot.
4. Rakesh Udiyar is the personnel trainer for Aamir khan to come into his shape. Rakesh has been sensational in his life and has got noticed by many now.
